Hyderabad police have arrested a youth Congress leader, Vallabh Reddy, in connection with the alleged murder of his wife, Lahari (27). Initially, Vallabh Reddy claimed that Lahari died of a cardiac arrest and rushed her to a corporate hospital with a head injury on July 14. Doctors at the hospital declared Lahari brought dead, but suspicions arose when her father, Koti Jaipal Reddy, lodged a complaint with Narayanguda police about the circumstances of her death.
According to the complaint, Vallabh Reddy had told doctors that Lahari sustained head injuries after falling during household work. However, the autopsy report revealed that Lahari had additional internal injuries in her abdomen, raising further doubts about the incident. Further investigation revealed that on the night of July 13, Vallabh Reddy allegedly had an argument with his wife, during which he thrashed her and pushed her against a wall, resulting in a fatal head injury.
The couple had been married for a year and were residing in Himayat Nagar, Hyderabad. Despite appearing composed and performing last rites, the autopsy findings led to Vallabh Reddy’s arrest on murder charges, with additional charges of causing the disappearance of evidence.
The accused, being a youth Congress leader and the son of Congress leader Ranga Sai Reddy from Nalgonda, drew significant attention to the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities will continue to gather evidence to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding Lahari’s tragic death.
