Xi Jinping Visits Serbia to Cement Bilateral Ties
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Serbia on the second leg of his Europe tour, aiming to strengthen the already friendly relations between China and the Balkan country. The visit comes as Serbia seeks entry into the European Union. President Xi’s arrival was met with a warm welcome from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and other top officials.
Signs of pro-China sentiment were evident across the country, with large Chinese flags adorning buildings and streets. China has made significant investments in Serbia, particularly in mining and infrastructure, and the two countries have signed strategic partnership and free trade agreements. Xi’s visit marks the 25th anniversary of the bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, an event that has solidified political ties between China and Serbia.
