Wet Weather Forecast to Provide Temporary Relief from Heatwave in Tamil Nadu

As Tamil Nadu grapples with scorching temperatures, relief seems to be on the horizon with the Regional Meteorological Centre forecasting scattered rain over the State until Sunday, May 19. The upcoming wet spell, expected to intensify from Wednesday, will bring thundershowers and moderate rainfall, potentially easing the heatwave conditions prevailing in several districts.

This respite, particularly beneficial for areas along the Western Ghats and the state’s interior regions, is attributed to weather systems closer to the Tamil Nadu region. While heavy rain is predicted in certain districts, the forecast suggests that maximum temperatures are likely to remain close to normal or dip below average across the state from May 16 to 17. With rainfall already marginally reducing the rain deficit in the state, Chennai also anticipates light showers till Wednesday, adding to the relief from the sweltering heat.
