Vizhinjam Port to Become Kerala’s Largest Private Port and Revenue Contributor
Karan Adani, CEO and Whole-time Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), announced that the Vizhinjam Port will become Kerala’s largest private port and a substantial revenue contributor to the state. The Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport project is a significant endeavor for Adani Ports and is noted as one of the most challenging projects undertaken and executed by the company.
The port will be India’s first semi-automated container terminal and serve as a Global Bunkering Hub, offering green fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia. Once completed, Vizhinjam is set to be one of the world’s most environmentally friendly ports. The project is expected to generate over 5,500 direct and indirect jobs and contribute to the development of the region.
Adani expressed a commitment to commencing Phase II of the project and emphasized the strategic location of the port, just 10 nautical miles from the International Shipping Route connecting Europe, the Persian Gulf, and the Far East.
