Visually-Impaired Protest for Employment Opportunities in Chennai

Members of the National Federation of the Blind, Tamil Nadu, continued their protest for a second day, demanding employment outside the Directorate for the Welfare of the Differently Abled. Despite completing government-provided bookbinding courses, no recruitment has occurred since 2016, and the government now plans to shut down the bookbinding center.

Protesters, including over 60 visually impaired individuals, also called for reopening the braille press at the Government Higher Secondary School for the Visually Impaired in Poonamallee, which would create employment opportunities. Talks with the department are ongoing to address their demands.
