Virat Kohli Reflects on Tricky Wicket and India’s Strong Total

Virat Kohli, after scoring his 49th ODI century at Eden Gardens against South Africa, revealed that the wicket posed challenges for batting. Kohli’s unbeaten 101 came in 119 balls and included 10 boundaries, marking a significant achievement. He reached this milestone in just 289 ODIs, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record by 173 matches.

Kohli emphasized that the wicket became trickier as the match progressed, with the ball gripping and the pitch slowing down after the initial 10 overs. His role was to bat deep and anchor the innings after the openers fell. Kohli praised Shreyas Iyer for his partnership and revealed that they had worked together extensively in practice sessions before the Asia Cup.

Despite the challenging wicket, India posted a formidable total of 326/5, and Kohli expressed confidence in India’s quality bowling attack to defend it on a surface where batting wasn’t easy.
