Violent Clashes Erupt in Lebanon’s Largest Palestinian Refugee Camp
At least seven people were killed and 24 others injured as violent armed clashes erupted in Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp, Ain Al-Helweh, near Sidon. The clashes involved machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades, and the use of flare bombs, marking an escalation in violence.
Stray bullets from the conflict also affected surrounding areas, leading to significant displacement. The violence occurred despite an earlier ceasefire agreement reached between Palestinian factions in the camp and Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
This recent wave of violence has resulted in 20 deaths and 140 injuries since September 7, highlighting the persistent tensions and clashes in Ain Al-Helweh.
