Vasan Criticizes DMK Government for Inaction on Mekedatu Dam

Tamil Manila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan criticized the ruling DMK government for not taking any preventive measures against Karnataka’s plan to construct a dam across the Cauvery at Mekedatu.

Vasan argued that the proposed dam would turn the delta districts of Tamil Nadu into a desert, blaming the DMK’s alleged vote bank politics for the inaction. Urging the state government to proactively address the water scarcity issue, he emphasized the need for additional borewells and awareness campaigns for judicious water use, especially during the summer.
