Uttar Pradesh ATS Arrests Couple with Alleged Links to Naxal Activities
The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested a couple, Brijesh Kushwaha and Prabha, for their suspected involvement in Naxal activities. The arrests come four years after the couple was initially interrogated in 2019 on suspicion of Naxal links, but were not apprehended at the time due to a lack of evidence.
ATS’s recent actions followed the examination of electronic devices seized from their possession, with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report revealing concerning content, including letters allegedly linked to different comrades associated with the CPI (Maoist), referring to “anti-national activities.”
The ATS also claimed to have recovered letters and literature associated with the banned People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLA), a Maoist outfit, from the electronic devices. The couple’s arrest sheds light on the continuous efforts to combat Naxal-related activities in the region.
