US Approves Potential Sale of Apache Helicopters to Poland

The US Department of State has given the green light for the potential sale of Apache attack helicopters and associated equipment to Poland, estimated to be worth $12 billion, as confirmed by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). The approval follows Poland’s request for 96 Apache helicopters along with related gear, including Hellfire and Stinger missiles.

Boeing and Lockheed Martin are designated as the primary contractors for this transaction. While the State Department’s approval marks a significant step, the DSCA emphasized that it does not guarantee the sale’s completion or the signing of contracts with manufacturers. The move aligns with Poland’s intensified focus on enhancing national defense in light of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with the country sharing a border with Ukraine to the east.
