US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated on Monday that Washington is “actively working” to ensure humanitarian assistance can reach Gaza as the Hamas-Israel conflict continues. He added that the United States is working to provide assistance such as food, water, and medicine to the people of Gaza. Gaza is currently facing a critical humanitarian crisis with shortages of water, electricity, food, fuel, and medicine.
Although there were reports of a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid through the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt, Israel denied the existence of such an agreement. Meanwhile, tons of vital humanitarian supplies for Gaza have piled up on the Egyptian side of the border. The UN Relief and Works Agency has warned that Gaza is running out of water and electricity, leading to severe shortages of food and medicine.
