Following the detection of a technical glitch on the Gammon Bridge spanning the Godavari River, authorities in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh, have swiftly initiated repair measures. A high-level team, including Principal Secretary P.S. Pradyumna and other officials, inspected the bridge and confirmed the issue, identified as a ‘failure of a bearing’ between specific piers.
Urgent steps are being taken to procure necessary equipment from Kolkata for the repair work, ensuring swift resolution of the problem. To mitigate risks, vehicular movements will be regulated to one-way traffic across the bridge, prioritizing public safety while repair operations are underway.
