Upgraded Cargo Facilities at Chennai Airport for Apple Exports

Chennai airport’s cargo terminal is undergoing significant upgrades to accommodate the exclusive export of Apple products manufactured in Sriperumbudur. Key developments include a dedicated corridor for seamless truck movement and expanded parking, increasing capacity by 7,500 sq.m for an additional 200 vehicles. Enhanced security measures with four X-ray machines and six built-up locations will streamline operations.

Road widening on both Guindy and Chromepet ends will reduce congestion, improving access for all cargo vehicles. With 70 tonnes of Apple products initially expected and potential growth to 100 tonnes, the infrastructure boost aims to increase cargo traffic by 30-35%, positioning Chennai as a critical export hub.
