Unrecognized School in UP Shut Down After Alleged Incident of Student Harassment
An unrecognized school in Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, where a teacher allegedly instructed students to slap a fellow classmate from a minority community, has been ordered to be closed down as it was operating without proper recognition. The incident, caught on video, took place at Neha Public School in Khubbapur village, sparking outrage after it circulated on social media.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that the school’s recognition had expired a year ago. Basic Education Officer Shubham Shukla stated that while the school had provisional recognition to operate from nursery to fifth grade until 2022, the renewal process had not been completed. Authorities have directed the closure of the school and further actions are being pursued.
