Unlicensed Pet Dogs Trigger Safety Concerns in Chennai

Recent incidents in Chennai have spotlighted the dangers of unlicensed pet dogs, following attacks on two boys by a Rottweiler and a Boxer. In Kolathur, 12-year-old J. Gerald was hospitalized after being bitten by unregistered pets, prompting police to charge owner John Fedrix under IPC Sections 289 and 336. The dogs, under Blue Cross observation, lack proper documentation, highlighting gaps in compliance.

Meanwhile, in K.K. Nagar, 16-year-old D. Anbarasu suffered a similar fate, escalating calls for stringent pet regulations. These attacks underscore the urgency for mandatory licensing and vaccination enforcement by the Greater Chennai Corporation to ensure public safety.
