University of Madras Senate Members Seek Special Meeting Post Lok Sabha Elections

In response to the University of Madras’ decision to postpone the Senate meeting scheduled for March 30, 2024, Senate members have urged the registrar to convene a special meeting after April 19, 2024, following statutory provisions. The members emphasized that such a meeting would ensure the smooth functioning of academic and administrative activities within the university.

The postponed meeting was crucial for conducting elections to the Syndicate and Senate, typically discussing budget allocations and annual reports. Concerns were raised regarding the limited scope of approval granted in the circulated minutes, prompting the request for a comprehensive discussion in a special session.
