UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis praised India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) as a fundamental driver of social transformation and progress, emphasizing its role in providing equal opportunities when accessed inclusively. Speaking at the first conference on ‘Citizen Stack: Digital Public Infrastructure, Transformative Technology for Citizens,’ Francis highlighted India’s rapid expansion of DPI, which has broadened access and enabled millions to achieve financial independence and prosperity.
He noted that India’s DPI model has achieved over 80% financial inclusion for its citizens in just seven years, accounting for more than 60% of all digital transactions worldwide. Francis emphasized the importance of embracing and replicating models like India’s Citizen Stack across countries to support and empower vulnerable communities, leaving no one behind in the digital era.
