Ukrainian President Zelensky Acknowledges Slower Counteroffensive Against Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has acknowledged that the country’s counteroffensive against Russia is progressing slower than anticipated. Zelensky’s statement, made during a meeting with Latin American media outlets, was released in a video by his office. He highlighted challenges such as mines, technical difficulties, and waiting times in various areas.

Zelensky emphasized that the counteroffensive is when the army attacks, not when it retreats, and noted the difficulty of prolonged conflict and equipment shortages. He stated that while Ukrainians are fatigued, Russians exhibit fear. The primary challenge lies in breaking through Russia’s intricate defensive lines, characterized by trenches and mines. Ukrainian forces have suffered significant losses, prompting some units to regroup for reduced casualties.
