U.K. Authorities Investigate Attempted Breach of Princess Kate’s Medical Records
British police have been called upon to investigate an alleged attempt to access the confidential medical records of Catherine, Princess of Wales, during her hospitalization. The request follows claims of unauthorized access at The London Clinic, where Kate underwent abdominal surgery in January. Health Minister Maria Caulfield emphasized the importance of patient privacy laws, stating that only authorized personnel should access medical records.
While the Metropolitan Police is yet to confirm any referral, the U.K.’s data protection watchdog, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), is examining the breach report. The London Clinic reaffirmed its commitment to patient confidentiality, asserting that all patients deserve privacy regardless of their status.
The incident adds to recent controversies surrounding Kate, including speculation about her health and public absence, despite earlier assurances of her gradual return to royal duties in April.
