Heavy rains and thunderstorms struck the U.A.E. on May 2, leading to the cancellation of several international flights, two weeks after Dubai was paralyzed by unprecedented storms. The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) raised the readiness and preparedness levels of the national system to deal with the situation.
Although these rains were expected to be less severe than the previous downpour, the public was urged to take precautions. Dubai-based Emirates airline cancelled several flights due to bad weather, and movements at Dubai International Airport (DXB) were reduced. Remote work systems were advised for all government and private sectors on May 2 and 3, except for vital jobs requiring physical presence. Additionally, the Interiro Ministry, in coordination with NCEMA, closed roads leading to areas prone to flash floods, water accumulations, and dams during the weather conditions.
