Navi Mumbai Police have apprehended two individuals from Gujarat and confiscated fake Indian currency notes amounting to approximately Rs 50 lakh from their possession. Following a tip-off, Kharghar Police Station’s team detained the suspects from Bhuj in Kutch district.
Upon searching the duo, authorities discovered over Rs 1 lakh in genuine currency and more than 9,980 counterfeit Rs 500 notes, resembling real currency but devoid of serial numbers and imprinted with ‘Children Bank of India.’ The total face value of the fake notes is nearly Rs 49.90 lakh. The arrested individuals, Usman D. Saha, 40, and Abdul H. Turk, 41, are believed to have intended to circulate the counterfeit money in markets to deceive unsuspecting victims.
Charges have been filed against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code as investigations continue to uncover the source of the counterfeit notes and their network in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
