Two Arrested in Chhattisgarh in Connection with Delhi Heist of Over Rs 20 Crore Worth of Jewellery
The Chhattisgarh Police Crime Branch has apprehended two individuals in the state believed to be connected to a high-profile heist in Delhi, where jewellery worth over Rs 20 crore was stolen. The suspects have been identified as Lokesh Srivas and Shiva Chandravanshi. Delhi Police teams are currently in Chhattisgarh for further investigation.
Approximately 18.5 kg of gold and diamond ornaments stolen from the Umang Jewellery store in southeast Delhi’s Jangpura area have been recovered, along with Rs 12 lakh in cash. The robbery displayed a high level of sophistication, suggesting the involvement of a specialized gang, and this information led to collaboration between Delhi and Chhattisgarh authorities. Lokesh is also suspected of involvement in seven other thefts in Bilaspur. The robbery, one of the biggest reported in Delhi recently, involved burglars disabling the shop’s CCTV cameras and creating a hole in the strongroom’s wall.
