TVK Demands Key Resolutions at First General Council Meeting

At its first-ever general council meeting in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, made several significant demands.

The party called for the withdrawal of the Waqf Amendment Bill, arguing it would marginalize the Muslim community, and voiced strong opposition to the Centre’s proposed three-language policy, advocating for the continuation of Tamil-English bilingualism.

TVK also reiterated its support for Tamil Nadu’s fishermen, calling for permanent solutions to safeguard their interests. The meeting addressed issues of social justice, with resolutions pushing for decentralization of power and the establishment of special fast-track courts for sexual assault cases.

Additionally, TVK condemned the DMK government’s failure to maintain law and order and demanded a probe into the alleged Rs 1,000 crore scam in the state-run liquor outlets.

Vijay emphasized his leadership role, confirming TVK’s active participation in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
