Turkish Drone Strike Kills Senior PKK Member in Northern Iraq

A Turkish drone strike in northern Iraq has resulted in the death of a senior member and three militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), according to the Counter-Terrorism Service of Iraq’s Kurdistan region. The attack occurred in the Chalmir area of Sinjar mountain, west of Mosul, and was carried out on Sunday.

Turkey has frequently conducted military operations in northern Iraq, including airstrikes and ground operations, targeting PKK fighters. The PKK, considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU, has been involved in a long-running conflict with the Turkish government spanning over three decades.
