Trumpet Interchange Connecting ECR and Chennai Peripheral Ring Road to Begin Construction
Construction is set to begin on a trumpet interchange at Poonjeri, connecting East Coast Road (ECR) with the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road (CPRR). The 1.8 km long interchange, costing ₹40 crore, will provide a crucial link for travelers, allowing them to access CPRR from ECR and travel to Ennore without entering the city of Chennai.
This development is expected to significantly improve connectivity, particularly for those traveling to and from places like Puducherry and Cuddalore. The CPRR project, once completed, will enhance access to various locations, reducing travel time and fuel consumption.
The interchange construction is anticipated to be completed by November 2024, coinciding with the first phase of the CPRR project from Mamallapuram to Mugaiyur. Land acquisition and widening projects for ECR are also progressing to facilitate smoother traffic flow.
