Transforming Chennai’s Railway Infrastructure: PM Modi Initiates Development
Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted a significant initiative for the transformation of Chennai’s railway infrastructure by laying the foundation stone for the development of seven key railway stations in the Chennai division. These stations, including Ambattur, Chennai Beach, Chennai Park, Mambalam, Guindy, St. Thomas Mount, and Sullurpeta, are set to undergo a major facelift under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Additionally, the project encompasses the construction of seven road overbridges (ROBs) and 28 subways, aimed at enhancing connectivity and modernizing transportation facilities.
With an estimated cost of ₹45,769 crore, various railway projects are already underway across Tamil Nadu, reflecting the government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure and stimulating economic growth. Governor R.N. Ravi highlighted the inclusive nature of the country’s growth trajectory, emphasizing the pivotal role of revamped railway stations in catalyzing local economic development and fostering a vibrant community hub.
