In a distressing continuation of a concerning trend, another student in Rajasthan’s Kota has taken their own life, marking the 26th such incident this year. Mohammad Tanveer, a 20-year-old student originally from Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, ended his life by hanging himself in his room on Wednesday night. Tanveer had been residing in Kota with his father and sister for the past year to prepare for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
His father works as a teacher in a coaching institute in Kota, and both Tanveer and his sister were engaged in NEET preparations. The exact reason behind Tanveer’s tragic suicide is under investigation, and his body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Family members are also being questioned in connection with the incident.
Since the beginning of the year, 26 students have taken their own lives in Kota, raising concerns about the mental health and academic pressures faced by students in the region.
