Tragic Suicide in Karnataka’s Tumakuru Linked to Exorbitant Interest Rates and Harassment
In a heartbreaking incident in Tumakuru district, Karnataka, preliminary investigations suggest that exorbitant interest rates and harassment prompted a family of five to commit suicide. The victims included Gareeb Saab, a kebab seller, his wife Sumaiyya, and their three children. The family allegedly owed Rs 1.5 lakh to five individuals, who have been taken into custody for investigation.
Gareeb Saab left a two-page death note and recorded a 5.22-minute video explaining the torture inflicted by the accused residing in the ground floor of the same building. The victims were found hanging in their residence in Sadashivanagar locality.
Gareeb Saab specifically appealed to Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara in the video, urging punishment for the accused, highlighting the distressing consequences of the debt and harassment on the family. The police are actively investigating the case, which has shaken the local community.
