Tragic Incident: Elderly Man Crushed by Lift in Chennai Building

In a tragic incident in Mylapore, Chennai, a 76-year-old man, identified as K. Ellappan from Selaiyur, lost his life after being accidentally crushed by a lift on January 1, 2023. Ellappan was at the building to attend a spiritual wellness camp and was waiting for the lift on the ground floor to reach the second floor.

Unfortunately, the lift lacked a door, and its shaft was on the ground level. While trying to check if the lift was descending, Ellappan looked into the shaft, and at that moment, the lift descended, crushing him to death. The police have filed a case against the lift operator, Kishore, and maintenance officer, Ponnusamy, both of whom have been arrested in connection with the tragic incident.
