In a heartbreaking incident in Siddarama Colony, Karnataka, a 16-year-old boy named Shreyas Shinnura lost his life due to electrocution while playing cricket on Saturday. Shreyas, a tenth-grade student, came in contact with an electric wire while attempting to catch the ball on the upstairs of a house where he and his friends were engaged in the game.
Despite prompt efforts to rush him to a private hospital, Shreyas succumbed to his injuries. His friend, who attempted to rescue him, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. Shreyas’ father, Ashoka Shinnura, expressed the devastating loss of his only son, mentioning that Shreyas had returned from school and spent time on his mobile before heading out to play cricket.
The tragedy highlights the need for heightened awareness and safety precautions, especially in recreational spaces where electricity-related risks may be present.
