A heartbreaking incident unfolded near Doddaballapur town in Bengaluru rural district as a man and his son lost their lives while plucking lotuses from Bhoochanahalli Lake. The victims, identified as Puttaraju (42) and Keshava (14) from Shanthinagar in Doddaballapur town, had ventured to the lake to gather lotuses for sale, given the demand ahead of the Varamahalakshmi festival.
Tragically, they entered the lake unaware of its depth and ended up drowning in the slush while collecting flowers. Their footwear and mobile phones were left on the lakeside, alerting another flower vendor who informed the family. Despite the efforts of the police, the bodies could not be recovered that evening.
The following morning, the Fire Force and Emergency Services successfully retrieved the bodies. Authorities are investigating the incident, shedding light on the need for caution around water bodies.
