A devastating accident occurred on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad National Highway-44 near Chikkaballapur on the outskirts of Bengaluru, leaving 13 people dead. An SUV collided with a parked truck, resulting in this tragic incident. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his condolences and announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of all the deceased.
The police have identified 12 of the victims, with one person’s identity yet to be confirmed. The deceased include individuals from various locations, including Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
The accident occurred due to poor visibility caused by thick morning mist, with the SUV colliding with the truck from behind. While five individuals lost their lives at the scene, seven others succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital, and one died in the hospital. Local residents and the police had to break open the jammed car doors to rescue the victims.
