Traffic Diversions for IPL Matches in Chennai

Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) have announced traffic diversions on specific dates in April and May. With diversions in effect from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. for most matches, and a longer duration on May 12, commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly. Victoria Hostel Road and Bells Road will operate as one-way streets, with entry prohibited from Wallajah Road.

Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses and vehicles with passes for specific stands will follow alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow. Vehicles without passes will be redirected to designated parking areas to minimize congestion around the stadium vicinity. These measures aim to streamline traffic management during the IPL matches and facilitate safe passage for all commuters.
