Suburban train services on the Chennai Beach-Tambaram section were impacted when a crack was noticed on the track at the Guindy railway station. The loco pilot of a suburban train detected the issue after hearing a loud noise and promptly stopped the train.
The maintenance staff of the Chennai division of Southern Railway quickly sprung into action to rectify the problem, and services were restored within 45 minutes. The incident caused a temporary hold-up of a few trains at the station until repairs were initiated.
The authorities were alerted about the issue at approximately 2.45 p.m., and by 3.30 p.m., the track was restored, and normal services resumed. Due to the occurrence taking place on a Sunday with limited local trains running, the station experienced overcrowding.
