The Tamil Nadu government has issued a stern warning of criminal action against touts selling bus tickets at high prices at the newly inaugurated Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) in Kilambakkam, Chennai. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) issued a circular to omnibus operators, urging compliance with ticketing regulations.
Following passenger complaints, the CMDA, along with the Regional Transport Officer and police officers, inspected the terminus, seizing tickets from unauthorized sellers. CMDA officials are emphasizing the need for passengers to purchase tickets only through authorized counters or online platforms to avoid falling victim to touts. Measures to create awareness through public address systems are also being implemented to ensure strict enforcement of the rule.
