TN women’s basic income scheme launched in the first phase of Chennai

Starting from July 20, 2023, the Tamil Nadu government will distribute 8,56,930 application forms for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam (women’s basic income scheme) in Chennai. Salespersons from ration shops will visit households to issue tokens and application forms for the scheme.

The initiative aims to provide eligible heads of households with financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month. The scheme is set to be launched on September 15, 2023. This move is part of the government’s efforts to support women and provide them with a basic income for their well-being and empowerment.
