The Tamil Nadu government has granted administrative approval for a sum of ₹621 crores to build a four-lane elevated corridor spanning 3.2 kilometers from Teynampet to Saidapet on Anna Salai in Chennai. The elevated corridor project was announced in the previous year’s budget session in the State Assembly.
Anna Salai, being a major arterial road, witnesses a daily traffic volume of around 2.37 lakh vehicles, leading to significant congestion and travel delays. It currently takes over 16 minutes to cover the 3.2-kilometer stretch due to heavy traffic flow. The construction of the elevated corridor aims to improve traffic flow and reduce travel time for commuters along this busy route.
