TIPRA Motha MLA Threatens Agitation Over Unfulfilled Peace Accords
Ranjit Debbarma, a prominent TIPRA Motha MLA and former militant leader, has issued a stern warning of launching an agitation if peace accords signed with various militant outfits are not implemented as promised. Leading a delegation to Governor N. Indrasena Reddy, Debbarma submitted a set of demands outlining the grievances of former militants and their families.
Having been associated with the outlawed All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), Debbarma brings firsthand experience to the table, highlighting the plight of those who returned to mainstream life post-accords. His threat of agitation underscores the frustration over the alleged non-fulfillment of terms and references outlined in the peace agreements since 1988. Despite potential controversy, sources suggest that TIPRA Motha’s top leadership has tacitly approved Debbarma’s stance, indicating a possible escalation of tensions if the demands remain unaddressed.
