The 75th Republic Day celebrations in Delhi witnessed stringent security measures with 77,000 invitees subjected to seven layers of security checkpoints. Visitors underwent thorough frisking, and wallets were scrutinized for coins, keys, and other prohibited items. In light of recent security breaches, special attention was given to checking shoes using beepers, following the December 13, 2023 attack in parliament.
Despite the extensive security arrangements involving 14,000 personnel, some attendees felt that additional personnel could have expedited the process for a smoother flow of movement. The security codes—red, white, and blue—were implemented, and traffic advisories were issued, restricting vehicle entry in certain areas. Special arrangements were made around Kartavya Path, state borders, and vulnerable areas in the capital, ensuring a safe and secure Republic Day celebration.
