Thunderstorms Expected to Persist in Parts of Tamil Nadu, Expanding in Coverage from Sunday, Says IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that thunderstorms will continue in parts of Tamil Nadu until Sunday, with rainfall expected to cover more districts starting on October 8. The strong westerlies prevailing in the region have sustained the thunderstorm activity, with areas like Kanniyakumari and Coimbatore receiving substantial rainfall.

While the southwest monsoon is in its retreating phase, the influence of the monsoon is still evident, particularly in southern Tamil Nadu. The Regional Meteorological Centre forecasts light to moderate rain and thunderstorms until Saturday, with scattered rain expected for the following four days.
