Thirupugazh-Led Committee Continues Assessment of Flood Damage in Chennai
The advisory committee for flood risk mitigation and management in Chennai Metropolitan Area, led by V. Thirupugazh, conducted field visits across the city to evaluate the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung. Areas such as Venus Colony, Alwarpet, Trustpuram Canal-K.K. Nagar, Mugalivakkam, and Manapakkam were assessed for flood damage.
The committee had previously reviewed the impact in southern areas, including Pallikaranai, Velachery, Narayanapuram, Nanmangalam, and Okkiam Maduvu. Future visits are planned for northern parts such as Sadayankuppam, Manali New Town, and Amullavoyal, as well as southern suburbs like Tambaram and Kelambakkam. The committee’s assessments will contribute to recommendations for flood mitigation and highlight areas requiring attention.
