Terrorist Attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan Leave 15 Dead
Heavily armed terrorists launched coordinated attacks in Balochistan, Pakistan, on January 29, targeting Mach town, located around 70 km from the provincial capital Quetta. The attackers targeted a high-security prison, initiating a gun battle with security forces. In the ensuing clashes, four law enforcement personnel and two civilians lost their lives.
Nine militants were killed during the confrontation. The banned separatist group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) Majeed group claimed responsibility for the attacks. The assault is one of the deadliest this year, marking a resurgence in violence in the restive province. Balochistan has faced a prolonged low-level insurgency, with periodic militant attacks challenging security forces.
