Temple Committee President Attacked by Priest Over Donation Box Key
A 70-year-old man, serving as the president of a temple committee in Dwarka, fell victim to an attack by a priest wielding an axe on Friday, reportedly due to a dispute over possession of the key to the temple’s donation box. The incident occurred in Pandwala Kalan village under the Chhawla police station, and the police received a PCR call about the assault at around 11:30 a.m.
The police promptly responded to the call and discovered that Chetan Dass, a 58-year-old caretaker and priest at the local Hanuman temple, had assaulted Satish Sharma, the temple committee’s president. An altercation between the two individuals allegedly escalated into violence, leading to Sharma’s hospitalization for treatment. The police have registered a case against Dass under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code, and Dass has been taken into custody.
