Telangana’s Forest Minister, Konda Surekha, asserted that the establishment of a radar centre in Vikarabad would have no impact on the environment or the people. She defended the decision, stating that the permission for the radar centre was granted by the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government in 2017, and the Congress government allowed it after a thorough assessment of various parameters.
Surekha emphasized that the process for setting up the VLF centre began in 2010 when discussions were held with the Indian Navy, and the previous government issued orders for handing over forest lands in 2017. She accused the BRS of attempting to politicize the issue of national security for political gain and highlighted the importance of the radar centre for the nation’s security.
