Tamil Nadu’s VCK Party Aims to Expand Beyond Dalit Community

Tamil Nadu’s Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), a prominent Dalit political party, is strategizing to extend its influence beyond its traditional base. With a focus on reshaping its identity, the party has appointed non-Dalits to 17 out of 144 district secretary posts.

This move aims to widen its appeal and cater to diverse socio-political groups in Tamil Nadu. The VCK has also appointed a Muslim leader as the Zonal secretary for certain districts.

While the party emphasizes its commitment to humanity and inclusivity, political analysts note that this step allows the VCK to broaden its reach and collaborate with various social, religious, and political groups. Despite its expansion, the VCK remains connected to its Dalit identity and retains its position in the INDIA front, working closely with Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.
