Tamil Nadu Strengthens Disaster Preparedness Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

With heavy rains predicted in the Cauvery delta region, the Tamil Nadu government has deployed six State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams to Tiruchi and Dindigul, along with two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams in Chennai and Tirunelveli. An additional 13 NDRF and nine SDRF teams are on standby to provide immediate relief if needed in other districts.

To streamline rescue and relief operations, four IAS officers have been sent to oversee efforts in Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, and Cuddalore. Following advisories, over 1,100 fishing boats that ventured into the deep sea have safely returned to shore.
