Tamil Nadu Police Capture Fugitive Involved in 2016 Murder Case in Maharashtra
In a significant breakthrough, the Chengalpattu police in Tamil Nadu arrested a fugitive wanted in connection with a murder case that took place seven years ago. The accused, identified as Saravanan (36) from Maruthunadu in Vandavasi district, had been on the run since his involvement in the murder of Rajkumar, a Tasmac employee in 2016.
The crime unfolded when a six-member gang, after consuming liquor at a Tasmac bar, demanded money from the bar attender. When denied, they wreaked havoc, causing serious injuries to Rajkumar, who later succumbed to his wounds at the Government Chengalpattu Hospital.
While five suspects were initially arrested, Saravanan managed to evade capture. Recently traced to the Nashik jail in Maharashtra, where he was detained for another criminal offense, Saravanan was apprehended by a special police team on January 2 when he was released on bail. The Chengalpattu police are now initiating the process to bring Saravanan before a judicial magistrate in the district for legal proceedings.
