Tamil Nadu Nears 33% Women Representation in Police Force

Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena announced that Tamil Nadu is close to achieving its goal of 33% women representation in the police force, with current female personnel at 21%. Speaking at the Special All India Police Shooting Competition-2024, Mr. Meena celebrated the accomplishments of 41 medal winners, including 12 from Tamil Nadu.

The competition, held at the Tamil Nadu Commando School Training Centre, showcased the skills of 444 women officers from across India. Mr. Meena highlighted the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance female participation in policing, a journey that began with the first batch of women recruits in 1973. The Tamil Nadu police team won the Overall Championship Trophy, demonstrating their prowess in marksmanship and readiness for modern security challenges.
