Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji Hospitalized for Chest Pain in Prison
Tamil Nadu Minister without portfolio, Senthil Balaji, currently incarcerated in Puzhal central prison over a job-for-cash scam, was admitted to the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital in Chennai after he complained of chest pain. Balaji was brought to the hospital in the early hours of Monday following elevated blood pressure readings and chest pain detected by the prison hospital.
The minister had been arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in June and had previously experienced chest pain. An angiogram at Omandur Government Hospital revealed three blockages in his coronary artery. Subsequently, Balaji obtained court permission to undergo surgery at a private hospital, which was successfully performed at Kaveri hospital in Chennai before his return to Puzhal central prison.
