Tamil Nadu Industries Announce One-Day Strike Against Electricity Tariff Revision
Leaders of the Tamil Nadu Industries Association have declared a one-day strike on September 25, with the participation of around 50,000 industries, including small-scale enterprises, in protest against the recent electricity tariff hike in the state. The protesting organizations are also demanding the withdrawal of peak-hour charges and fixed charges.
They claim that the state government did not engage industry representatives before increasing power tariffs, unlike other states that offer subsidies to industries. The strike is expected to impact approximately three crore laborers, including registered employees and migrant workers in these units. Industry leaders have expressed concerns that the peak-hour charges and fixed costs are affecting the competitiveness of their businesses, with some considering relocating to more favorable states.
